Beef meatballs with chocolate sauce

  1. Soak the bread crumbs in milk in a large bowl.
  2. Finely dice the onion, green pepper, carrot, and garlic cloves.
  3. Drain the soaked bread crumbs, squeezing to remove excess milk.
  4. In a bowl, mix the ground meat, drained bread crumbs, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until you get a homogeneous mixture.
  5. Let the meat mixture rest while you prepare the sauce.
  6. Shape portions of meat with your hands into balls.
  7. Lightly flour the meatballs.
  8. Heat a pan with oil and sauté the chopped vegetables for 15 minutes.
  9. Add the red wine to the pan and reduce for 15-20 minutes over low heat.
  10. Chop the dark chocolate and add it to the sauce along with a little water to incorporate.
  11. Blend the sauce with a mixer until smooth.
  12. Fry the meatballs in a pan with oil until golden.
  13. Transfer the meatballs to a casserole dish and pour the blended sauce over them.
  14. Cook the mixture over low heat for 6 minutes.
  15. Fry the cracked potatoes in the same oil where you browned the meatballs until they are ready.
  16. Serve the meatballs with their sauce on a plate.
  17. Serve with the fried potatoes, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and add a pinch of coarse salt.
