Homemade Francesinha
The iconic Portuguese sandwich with meats, melted cheese, and an irresistible sauce.

Ingredients
- 15 g butter
- 100 g fresh sausage
- 100 g longaniza
- 150 g beef steak
- 5 g salt
- 2 g black pepper
- 20 ml lemon
- 90 g sandwich bread
- 40 g cooked ham
- 120 g Edam cheese
Method
- Slice the fresh sausage and longaniza.
- Season the beef steak with salt and pepper and drizzle with lemon juice.
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
- Grease a grill or pan with butter and cook the sausage and longaniza slices.
- Cook the beef steak on the same grill for 3 minutes.
- Lightly toast the bread slices using the meat juices left on the grill.
- Assemble the sandwich by placing a slice of bread, the steak, a slice of jamón and a slice of cheese.
- Add the fresh sausage, longaniza, another slice of jamón and another slice of cheese.
- Close with the last slice of bread and cover the entire surface with the remaining cheese slices.
- Bake for 5 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Serve the francesinha with a generous amount of special sauce and french fries.
