Ingredients

Method

  1. Brown the butter in a pan over medium heat until it turns golden and releases a nutty aroma, then let it cool slightly.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the browned butter with the brown sugar, white sugar, a splash of vanilla, the whole egg, and the egg yolk. Mix everything until well combined.
  3. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the bowl. Mix with a spatula or mixer until the dough is just combined, but do not overmix to prevent them from becoming fluffy.
  4. Fold the chocolate chips into the dough and stir gently to distribute them evenly. Optionally, let the dough rest in the fridge for half an hour for best results.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Form dough balls with a spoon or your hands and place them on parchment paper on a baking sheet to prevent sticking.
  6. Bake the cookies for 15 minutes, until the edges are golden but the center is still soft. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
